Hairdressers go Pink

Image description

Staff at Keith Hall Hairdressing’s Ashbourne salon are not only going pink to help the fight against cancer – they’ll be looking slightly rosy cheeked too.

Twelve stylists and technicians from the salon, plus family and friends, are walking eight miles around Carsington Reservoir on Sunday 17 June to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. They’ll be dressed in pink, wearing pink wigs and special T shirts.

The Keith Hall group has 19 salons and is one of the largest and most respected names in the East Midlands , employing over 300 people with more than 6,000 clients. Each of the salons in the East Midlands is working towards raising £20,000 for the cancer research charity.

Carsington is the UK ’s ninth largest reservoir but salon director, Julie Brown says she doesn’t expect them to be breaking any speed records: “We haven’t done any practising but stay fairly fit by working in the salon each day. I am sure there will be so much chatting, comparing costumes and laughing that we won’t be managing the quickest walks around the reservoir.  But we will be raising money for a really important cause – funding research into beating breast cancer.”

The walkers have been raising sponsorship from clients and friends and expect to collect over £1,000.

Keith Hall Hairdressing’s salon on St John Street, Ashbourne, is also selling Breakthrough’s charity pins – including the iconic pink ribbon pin - and help to promote Breakthrough’s breast awareness message which encourages women to show their breasts some TLC: Touch their breasts and feel for anything unusual. Look for changes and be aware of their shape and texture and check anything unusual with their doctor and chat with friends if they are worried.
