Each of the 19 Keith Hall salons in the East Midlands are working towards raising £20,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer Appeal and the Derby Sadlergate team hope to have raised a magnificent £1,500 for the charity by taking part in the 5km Race for Life run at Darley Park in May. The Race for Life events are the UK ’s biggest women only fund raising event and money raised helps crucial work in cancer research.

Salon director, Louise Radford said she was proud of all those who took part: “All the girls completed the run and had great fun, while raising money for such a good cause.

“We were sponsored by our clients and friends – and collected almost £300 in loose change from a collection box on the reception desk alone.  This was my first project as owner of the salon and everyone really pulled together. We had a few blisters between us, but soon forgot those when we enjoyed a special after-race picnic.

“Almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer so we are keen to do our bit to helping support research into beating it.”

Keith Hall Hairdressing’s Derby Sadler Gate and St Peters salons are selling Breakthrough’s charity pins – including the iconic pink ribbon pin - and help to promote Breakthrough’s breast awareness message which encourages women to show their breasts some TLC: Touch their breasts and feel for anything unusual. Look for changes and be aware of their shape and texture and check anything unusual with their doctor and chat with friends if they are worried
